Rudyard Kipling will always be in the movies of every kid born in the late 20th Century for his best gift to them, Mowgli and The Jungle Book. The trailer of this movie has already been keeping millions of people in the wait and finally it is here. A reincarnation of the famous bedtime stories of the 90’s ; The Jungle Book, is the return of Kipling’s version of Tarzan, Mowgli, the kid who made the jungle is home and every kid his fan.

A story fabricated by Disney from Kipling’s originals, the Jungle Book introduces its characters well, and ruffles perfectly through the scenes and emotions. Adaptations are generally difficult to pull off and especially when it is a movie with such high expectations. In his conquest to adapt himself to a pack of wolves as his family and the making the Jungle his world, Mowgli is faced by multiple challenges; and that is the soul, the story circles around.

Jon Favreau takes a break from his usual Hollywood action-drama to bring us a sensational presentation and collection of the stories heard by every kid. The Jungle Book, does not only promise a perfect story adaptation but also boasts of some strong voice casts. The voices of veterans like Amitabh Bachhan, Om Puri, Nana Pathekar and those of the actors of the age, Priyanka Copra and Irfan Khan mesmerize your attention and leave you with the priceless nostalgia of these amazing early days.

Scenes, 3-D shots, especially the fight scenes are shot with amazing perfection. After adding life to movies like The Matrix and the Spiderman series, Bill Pope does his best to make to bring the fictitious characters of Baloo, Bagheera, Kaa and Shere Khan alive in the 21st century. As a part of the campaign in India, the song Jungle Jungle Pata Chala Hai, is another feather in the cap for this cross generational epic. The lyrics of Gulzaar and Dadlani’s music , seems to be the perfect mix for the song. The only thing that seems to be missed out is the relation between Shere Khan and Kaa, hope it’s showed in a much whispered sequel.

Mowgli, Favreau and Disney successfully achieve their dream of making The Jungle Book. With the right amount of music, screen angles, fight sequences, dialogues and a funky, Punajbi speaking Irfan Khan, the Jungle Book is worth a watch and a save in your memory. A suggestion, watch this in IMAX or 3D at  least to feel it better.
