Captain America – Civil War has been one of those movies for which the world and especially Marvel fans have been waiting with immensely high adrenaline levels and why not ? Till 6/5/2016, people had seen the Avengers saving the world from bad guys like Loki and Ultron, now it was about to see the two major Avengers Iron Man and Captain America engage in a tussle.

The movie kicks in highlighting the threat the World faces from The Avengers and this is where the disintegration kicks in. It seems the directors, Russo brothers have learnt their basics right, but are yet to master the art of directing the Avengers. With considerable disappointment from their last Avengers venture, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, there is a pinch of improvement, but still a lot of room for improvement persists. Yes, the story line looks really amazing, but presentation is marred with some major disappointments.

Locations, spread out across the globe, new characters like Black Panther, Ant Man, the Winter Soldier and Spidey joining the Avengers task force, the perfect rise to the climax and the stunning peek into the history of the Starks are some scoring points of the Civil War. On the contrary, a sensible and serious Tony Stark/Iron Man, replacing Andrew Garfield as the Spider Man, a gloomy first half and a very ordinary ending are some corners, which lack the finishing touches.

Henry Jackamn’s music has nothing much to offer to this terribly ordinary ride. Cinematography and screenplay are no doubt well established with the action scenes being one of the best after the first Avengers movie. With almost every character playing his part well, in the end you realise that Marvel gives you just 20 to 30 minutes of excitement in the 150 minute running time.

To summarize my views on the Civil War, it is worth a watch if you are an Avengers fan, but for people not following Avengers, a dinner at Mc Donald’s will be better suited or else a lot of googling will be needed. The Civil War has most things an Avengers movie has, yet it misses out on some core components. So does #TeamCap or #TeamIronMan win the Civil War? Does the new Spider Man suit the Avengers? Does the Avengers disintegrate or continue as the one unit we have known it to be? Get all your answers in the cinema theatres.

My Rating: 3/5.
